Root Down Deep — It Is Your Time to Blossom

Finding balance, strength, and renewal in the light of the Spring Equinox

Today is the spring equinox.

It is the one day each year when the hours of light and darkness are perfectly equal. The sun passes over the equator and for a moment, the world sits in balance between dark and light.

But tomorrow something begins to change.

From this day forward, the light grows stronger than the darkness. Each day the sun lingers a little longer. The soil warms. Seeds begin to awaken. Flowers start to grow.

Nature begins to bloom.

And so can we.

So if you have been stuck in the darkness of life for too long, it is time to feel the balance of dark and light and allow the light to take over so you can bloom. Starting tomorrow, the light is longer than the darkness. It is your opportunity to root down deep and use the light to blossom.

For many, the world has felt dark and heavy in the darkness of winter, but it is time for us all to bask in the light, root into the rich soil of life and bloom. Elizabeth Appel beautifully described why you must blossom into who you are meant to be with this famous quote,

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

Root down deep. It is your time to blossom.

Your life is only created by you, and we all create our own reality by our mindset and the choices we make. Over the last 8 months, I have dealt with compounding challenges, and I am so grateful for the training I have done to use those challenges to root down deep, grow and bloom.

You can choose to live a life of happiness and bliss by deciding to do so. But staying tight in your bud is far more painful than the risk it will take for you to blossom. At any stage in life, this holds true. It is never too late to come out of the darkness and be who you are meant to be. To let your light shine.

Be honest with yourself, are you living the life you are meant to live?

Are you feeling like darkness is overshadowing your light?

Are you achieving the one thing that inspires you most?

If not, it is time to blossom. It is time to bask in the light, grow and blossom.

Let this equinox bring balance to your life. With the equal balance of light and dark, recognize that you cannot have light without dark.

After the darkest of days, the sun emerges and light shines brightly. It is the Yin and the Yang of life. These opposites are a part of the natural cycles of life. We need darkness of winter to grow in the light of spring. Or as Emory Hall said it in the song Muddied,

“Spring will come. With its long light and lessons of how we need some seasons of darkness in order to bloom.”

As we head from a long dark winter into the long light of spring, let’s let the period of darkness in our lives fade away into the past. Be grateful for the periods of darkness for that is how we know the light of joy and positivity.

As Dr. King said,

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.

You can’t have light without dark.

You can’t have up without down.

You can’t have victory without struggle.

It is okay that we have experienced challenges and periods of darkness for that is how we grow. That is where we learn and prepare for our next big leap forward. To increase the light in your life, take action. To get out of the darkness, step into the light. But you have to actually take that step. That step is real action toward living as your True Self.

Step into the light of your life. Do not get stuck on whether or not it will work out. Many times we prevent ourselves from moving out of the darkness because we are worried that we will not be able to stay in the light.

We fear failure.

We fear success.

We fear taking action.

We fear what others will think if we fail.

But just take that step into the light.

As it says in the Tao,

“Whether you go up the ladder or down it, your position is shaky. When you stand with two feet on the ground, you will always keep your balance.”

It doesn’t really matter whether you succeed or fail. Just take action without attachment to the result and you will end up firmly grounded on the warming spring soil. You will be growing in the light.

As we celebrate this equinox, we celebrate the start of spring. We also celebrate the equal power of dark and light. We are grateful for the darkness that has allowed us to learn and grow so that we may now blossom in the light.

The darkness and light of life complement each other and allow us to grow. Do not just curse the darkness that has held you back and rush into the light. Be grateful for the darkness that inspired you to seek the light. We need those seasons of darkness in order to grow.

When you connect a negative charge and a positive charge in a battery, you create power. When you bring the negativity from your life and combine it with positivity, you create power. Your power. Your pure unbridled power to live the life of your dreams. Take all that negativity, all that darkness, all that struggle and combine it with your positive determination to live as your True Self. Step into the light, live your life on purpose and you will create boundless energy.

Enjoy the equal parts of darkness and light this equinox and welcome in the days of greater light that allow you to grow. Root down deep because it is your time to grown and blossom.
