It’s going to be an amazing day

From the moment your feet hit the floor pronounce to yourself, “its going to be an amazing day.”

Just like a great epics Lord of the Rings or Star Wars has a prequal, the prequal to your epic life starts before you see love in the mirror. I beg your forgiveness; I know in the prior article WYSIWYG, I told you that all you have to do is wake up, look in the mirror and see love. And that is true, just starting to see love in the mirror will change your life for the better starting today.

You could stop reading or listening here and by just saying “I love you” in the mirror, you would be off to a great start. But, we also discussed that the practice of seeing Love is the foundation for an epic life.

Once you lay the foundation, you still have to build a strong building that can withstand all storms. And before you lay the foundation, you have to level the ground and do a little prep work. The prep work and building are not difficult either but are helpful for transforming into that person you now see in the mirror with love and excitement. Here is a helpful practice that that will start your day off right from the moment your feet hit the floor.

Why wait until you get all the way to the mirror to make your day and your life amazing?

From the moment your feet hit the floor say to yourself or out loud, “It’s going to be an amazing day.”

This way, you are already in the right frame of mind before you even see yourself with love in the mirror. By exclaiming “it’s going to be an amazing day,” you are already grateful for the new day, ready to create what you intend to create and excited to start your day with intention. You have set the course for the day and made a better life for yourself before you have done anything else. This is powerful, you now are being proactive with your very first step of the day.

Sometimes I forget to say it as soon as my feet hit the floor, but on the short walk to the bathroom, with the first few groggy steps finding my footing after sleep, I remember and say it.

“It’s gonna be an amazing day.”

Almost every day, as my feet hit the floor or on the walk to the bathroom, I say to myself, “it’s going to be an amazing day.” It is the first thought that hits my mind and BAM, I just started my day in an amazing way!

I cannot recall where I first heard about this practice, and I wish I could give credit to someone for it. I am pretty sure I didn’t make it up. Hopefully a reader will point out a source for this and we can go back and reference it in the book Light in the Mirror.

In searching for the source of this practice, I did find a great quote,

“Be the kind of woman, that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, the devil says; ‘Oh crap, she’s up!’”

Be such a force for great good that, as your feet hit the floor, you have such positive intention that the universe is grateful you are awake. Whether it’s the devil or some other negative force, there is an eternal battle of good versus evil and we need you to awake with intention and ready to be a force for great good in the universe.

We need you’re your light to shine brightly now more than ever. The world needs you to be your best and we need you now.

It’s a small practice that only takes 2 seconds to say 7 words in your head. But it matters. Martha Beck said,

“How you do anything is how you do everything.”

Would you rather start an amazing day because its your choice or start a day dragged into whatever nonsense flashed up last on your phone.

We will dig into that much deeper in future articles and we cover it in depth in the book Light in the Mirror, but no matter what DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR PHONE when you first wake up!! If you use it for an alarm, turn it off, say to yourself, “It’s going to be an amazing day” and do not look at the phone for the first hour of your day. This way, you set the course for your day.

Why shouldn’t it be an amazing day? It is your day and you get to choose to live an amazing life today in the way that you want to. You are waking up with intention.

Is it more likely to be an amazing day if you start out your day with your first act being a declaration to yourself and the world that it’s going to be an amazing day or if you think oh no, let me think about all this crap I have to deal with today?

The crap you have to do or the money stress or the kids whining may enter your thoughts but just observe that they popped into your head, say “it’s going to be an amazing day” again and refocus on creating your intention for the day. It takes some practice but you truly can retrain your brain to stay positive.

Even if you are wildly successful in work or personal life, but you start your day being overwhelmed by all the tasks you have to do, you can retrain your brain to reduce your stress and anxiety to be more productive. Our brain can be retrained to function differently and that is really what we are doing by taking these actions to live a better life. We are retraining our brain through a set of habits that make up who we are and how we act.

So go ahead, say it’s “going to be an amazing day” as soon as your feet hit the floor. Then mosey into the bathroom, step in front of that mirror, lock eyes with yourself and say “I love you.” Once you see the light in the mirror, go spread that light out into the world.

As you awake with intention and see love in the mirror, you are starting some new positive habits. In our next article, we will talk about living habitually inspired through a set of productive habits that keep you focused, healthy and happy.

This is the third of a series of articles about how to live a life of love, happiness and success by seeing Light in the Mirror. The articles are excerpts from the book Light in the Mirror by Ben Parvey, author & inspirational speaker and energy transition leader as CEO of BlueSky Power.
